Blood Orange and Pistachio Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a quick and easy, heart healthy breakfast that can be made in a variety of ways. Include a nut/seed and a fruit for a balanced breakfast!
Ingredients

1/2 cup irish oats

1 cup low-fat milk

1 blood orange, segmented

1 tablespoon pistachios, chopped

1 teaspoon honey

zest of one blood orange
Instructions

Bring the milk to a boil first, then drop the temp down to a gentle simmer and add the oats. Simmer for three minutes, stirring here and there. Then shut off the heat and move the pot off the burner.

Cover and rest for five minutes. Let the oats absorb the milk without stirring or simmering.

Portion into bowl and mix in honey, and zest of blood orange. Top with orange segments and pistachios

Enjoy as a convenient and heart healthy breakfast!
